This is just a success story. I mean if you are 25 hand own a Benz, with a paid off house. Treat Yo self get that second Pizza. On the other hand if you’re 26 and work at a gas station you’d better not.

Fuck... I think I'm doing awesome I life, and my house might be paid off by age 41 or so. Maybe 40 if I push it.

It could be worse — you could be pushing 30 and drive a 30 year old Celica.

...What’s a Celica?

Meh one thing they never teach you growing up is that the path to the American dream is a windy uphill road that is poorly maintained

If all goes as planned my house will be paid off by the time I’m 30-33. If My career is where I’m hoping it will be by the end of this summer, and we can find a house we like for less than 100,000. Which where I live shouldn’t be a problem.
We should have an problem paying off a 100,000 dollar loan in 5 years. But Only if I push my bosses to get me where I want to be. which would be making 35-40k/yr instead of 15k/yr.

30 and a 25-year-old Prelude is close enough, right?

Just turned 22, Mercedes, bmw, Jaguar. No paid off house yet but hey! Can’t drive my house now can I?

That prelude has better build quality than most cars sold today.

Thank you good sir. Looking to possibly sell my bmw and buy more Jaaaaag in the form of an xjr. Parts are expensive but the driving experience is too satisfying.

And the antique plates mean I can afford a second car and insurance on both. So I guess I’m doing OK, my extinguished dumpster fire of a love life very much notwithstanding.

100k...in Denver, that might, just might buy you a semi decent one bedroom apartment. House - $250k or so. I am still around 170k away from paying mine..

I used to make $50 per month and a pair of Jordan's was still 100-150 bucks. America is still the promised land

29, work as a delivery driver, own a Mini Cooper S, classic Audi quattro, and a 90's V8 T-bird. We rent because we decided it made more sense for us right now.
I don’t think I’m doing awesome, but I do think I’m doing the best I can.

Those were designed by the Overlords specifically to antagonize the plebes.
(peering through telescope from atop the mount)
“Ha, look at the maroon attempting to extract macarone and a cheese pouch from within cardboard confines.”

“Will they ev.....cough,cough, (chokes on grey poupon)....ack.......”

The reality that I won’t be able to own a home outright for a long time where I live hit me the other day. The average home price here is exceeding $500K, and is constantly growing.

The thing that matters is that you try to support yourself. The only true failures are the people who expect others to support them.

I looked into moving to Co. I found a house I could handle in Idaho Springs for like 150. It was, what would be an 40,000 dollar home here, and it was a foreclosure.
I have zero interest in living in Denver, a city boy I am not.

I had to pass on the Prelude at 25 because I couldn't afford one that was running. So sounds great to me!

Seriously, I bought my place in 2009 and my neighborhood is now selling for twice what I paid. It’s ridiculous. I’m going to be living in this house forever because I certainly can't afford to upgrade on my salary.

Hah I’d love to have a house paid off when I’m 25 (I’m 23 now and working out of state) but I am debt free with great credit and I should have enough cash saved up by the end of this year for a 20% down payment on a nice one.
As for the Mercedes... I can live without that. I’d rather have my 4x4 Diesel truck

Can't find a job there. I'm trapped in big cities where crap shacks start at 500-700k. I've realized I may never own a home and even rent is starting to catch up. I'm not sure what to do when there is no affordable housing of any kind for me in spite of making a lot more than a median family income by myself. How do people do it?!

Well I’m managing by being married, before that I lived with two bros(which was awesome) and before that family. I’ve never lived on my own, nor do I ever intend to. I think if I did live on my own I’d probly by a van, or truck with a in bed camper, and go nomadic.

Living out of your car is not a bad idea. I envy my coworker that does it - he has so much free money that every day is a camp out with good food. It wouldn’t be much fun in the winter, but it’d otherwise be pretty great. All you need is a gym membership and you're golden.
I’m getting married... Sadly, although my income is well above a national median income and hers is close to one (each of us individually; our combined income is well over double the median national), where we live you need about triple the local median to afford a median house. We only make about 150% of the local medians for where we live. If we devoted every cent we made to a mortgage, we’d be coming up short. I don’t know how this housing market operates when prices are that disconnected from reality.
Did negative equity 0-down ARMs just become a big thing again?

Keep an eye out for foreclosures. Maybe take a few realtors out for drinks lol. My wife and I just got back from looking at one. It’s a 3bd 3 bath house with no garage(sadface), but it’s in a nice neighborhood, and needs mostly cosmetic work. We’re thinking we can live in it, work on it, and flip it in 3-5 year. And we’re buying it for about 1/3 it’s estimated value of 100,000. If we fix it up, build a garage, and add some character(it has plenty inside but almost no curb appeal.) I’m thinking we could sell it for 100-120,000.

Damn, man. If I could get deals like that, I could afford to flip houses with money I already have. Mind boggling.
I cannot even fathom houses around 100k. I could work literally any crap job and afford that. But she'd hate being that far from family and who knows what I'd do there.
